4DX EXPANDING DEEPER INTO THE COLOMBIAN MARKET THROUGH THE NEW STRATEGIC ALLIANCE WITH ROYAL FILMS

PRESS RELEASE

Seoul – August 25, 2016 – CJ 4DPLEX, the world’s first 4D cinema company, announced today that the company has partnered with Royal Films, enabling it to expand deeper into the Colombian market since it first set foot in the market in 2013. Headquartered in Seoul, the company is set to expand its number of operations from 4 to 6 by bringing the fully-immersive 4DX technology– which incorporates motion chairs and multisensory environmental effects – to a Royal Films theatre in Viva Barranquilla, the 3rd largest shopping mall in Colombia, in late October and to another by late 2017.

“We are constantly looking for better ways to improve the movie-going experience. 4DX, which provides an unrivaled immersive cinematic experience, will bring exactly that to our customers,” said Habib Osman, CEO of Royal Films.

The strategic partnership with one of the major exhibitors in Colombia comes amid recent success of 4DX in the Caribbean Islands. Partnered with Caribbean Cinemas, 4DX launched in Montehiedra, Puerto Rico and Downtown Center, Dominican Republic in mid-June and late July, respectively, seeing incredible occupancy rates and many sellouts to date.

“With many sellouts to date, our 4DX auditorium has become the main attraction in our new Montehiedra location with tickets selling out in advance of most of the shows,” stated Caribbean Cinemas Marketing Director Mayra Ramírez. “Our clients are very satisfied with the experience and the word of mouth has been great. From families to groups of teenagers, the 4DX screen at Montehiedra Cinemas has delivered great moments of fun, sharing and entertainment.”

“With moviegoers longing for a unique cinematographic experience, the new launch in Colombia will boost the ever-growing presence of 4DX similarly to what we have experienced already in the area,” said Byung-hwan Choi, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX.

As of August 2016, 4DX reaches 273 auditoriums in 41 countries. 4DX has been operating 54 screens with 8 partners in over 11 countries across the Latin American region, including Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.
