GLOBAL: ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Cruises Beyond $300M Global Mark; ‘Turtles’ Comes in Under $30M From First 19 Overseas Territories

Guardians of the Galaxy led the overseas box office once again after claiming a $40.1 million haul from 50 territories outside of North America. The film is up to $137.3 million overseas and $313.2 million worldwide. The top overseas market continues to be Russia, which has already grossed $23.9 million in two frames. Other top markets include the UK ($22.8M), Mexico ($13.4M) and Brazil ($10.5M).

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes grossed $29.5 million from 8,329 screens in 61 markets. The film has already surpassed the lifetime overseas cume of its predecessor ($307.7M) with its current $308.2 million tally outside North America. The film has grossed $505.9 million worldwide.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles launched across 19 territories in a day-and-date debut that brought in $28.7 million from overseas and a global haul of $93.7 million. The biggest overseas bow came from Russia, which registed an $11.1 million opening weekend to finish in second place in the market behind Guardians of the Galaxy.

Transformers: Age of Extinction entered into Top 10 films of all time in overseas box office after adding $17.4 million from 58 territories to its cumulative haul outside of North America. The film is now up to $789.3 million overseas and $1.03 billion worldwide.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 soared to a $319.4 million overseas cume after grossing $11.5 million from 34 markets., The film has taken in a total of $489.4 million globally.

Into the Storm opened day-and-date in 19 overseas markets along with North America. The film’s overseas haul finished at $8.3 million. It has made $26.3 million globally.

22 Jump Street brought in $4.2 million from 41 markets to raise its overseas total to $108.8 million. The comedy has grossed $298.2 million worldwide.

The Purge: Anarchy took $3.9 million from 35 territories to take its overseas total up to $27 million. The film has grossed $95.5 million worldwide.

Planes: Fire and Rescue delivered $3.5 million from 30 territories in its fourth weekend of release. The animated film has grossed a total of $37.5 million outside of North America and $90.4 million globally.

Step Up All In hit theatres in Germany on the same weekend with North America. The film added $2.6 million from 430 screens overseas to reach a $37.7 million cume outside of North America. The film’s global gross is $44.2 million.

Neighbors welcomed another $2.5 million from 19 territories and reached an $111.7 million overseas cume this weekend. The film has grossed a total of $261.6 million worldwide.

Sex Tape took a $1.9 million debut from Mexico, leading the way for a $5.8 million weekend across 35 markets. The raunchy comedy has now grossed a total of $25.9 million worldwide.

Blended earned another $1.6 million from 40 markets, finishing with a $75.2 million cume overseas. The comedy has grossed $121.1 million worldwide.

The Fault in our Stars grossed $1.2 million from 23 markets to take its overseas cume to $143.5 million. The film has grossed a total of $267.3 million worldwide.
