The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act delivered a standout box office debut in U.S. and global markets since premiering exclusively in cinemas June 4. During its opening weekend, The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act (the theatrical finale to one of the world’s most successful independent animated series) grossed an estimated $36.6M from more than 5,700 cinemas in the U.S., Europe, Australia/New Zealand and Mexico.

Ahead of release, presales had already signaled momentum—including setting several Fathom Entertainment U.S. presales records—with strong early demand from fans driving robust ticket sales across multiple territories. Several cinemas reported selling out in record time, prompting additional showtimes and an increased theatrical footprint. The opening weekend results confirmed a clear appetite for creator-led, event-driven content on the big screen.

In the U.S., where the release was distributed exclusively by Fathom Entertainment, The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act delivered more than $20.2M in box office revenues across more than 2,200 theaters during its opening 4-day weekend, company records for presales, 3-day weekend, and 4-day weekend tallies and ranking #3 among new releases and #5 overall for the weekend. Distributor Piece of Magic Entertainment who acquired exclusive theatrical rights in Europe reported $12.7 million (€11 million) during its opening weekend, playing in approximately 3,000 screens across 38 markets and ranking first on opening day in the UK, France, Benelux, Spain and Poland. Despite a highly competitive landscape, The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act finished among the weekend’s top five grossing titles in the majority of European markets.

The cinema release delivered especially strong results in key markets, including the UK & Ireland, where it grossed $3.5 million (£2.67 million) from 573 cinemas and ranked among the weekend’s top five; Germany, where it grossed $1.93 million (€1.68 million) from 421 cinemas and ranked third at the weekend box office. France reached more than 157,000 admissions, despite a restricted footprint of just 500 screenings under local windowing rules, grossing approximately $1.8 million (€1.6 million) and ranking first on opening day. Strong results are reported across other European markets, with the event grossing $1.05 million (€923,000) in Poland, where it ranked second at the weekend box office; $905,000 (€785,000) in Italy, where it was the weekend’s fourth-highest-grossing release; $944,000 (€820,000) in Spain; and $710,000 (€616,000) in the Benelux.

Glitch Productions also reported standout results across the rest of the world, including in Australia and New Zealand, where the cinema event grossed $1.4 million (A$1.98 million) from 211 cinemas in Australia and $168,000 (NZ$289,000) from 56 cinemas in New Zealand, ranking second on opening day in both markets and further reinforcing the international appeal of the franchise. The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act also delivered outstanding results across LATAM, reaching 585,000 admissions and grossing $2.1 million in Mexico alone, ranking third at the weekend box office.

Created by Gooseworx and produced by Glitch Productions, The Amazing Digital Circus first debuted on YouTube in October 2023 and rapidly became a global digital-era phenomenon, surpassing 1 billion online views and building a passionate international fanbase. Marking the first-ever theatrical release for The Amazing Digital Circus franchise, The Last Act combines episode 8 with the all-new, hour-long episode 9, giving audiences the opportunity to be the first to see the long-awaited conclusion of the series with a feature-length release in cinemas, before its online release.

“This result showcases that cinemas have a unique power to bring fan communities together. It is also a testament that such releases can scale across territories and deliver outstanding box office results,” said Caspar Nadaud, the chief entertainment officer and founder of Piece of Magic Entertainment. “We are proud to have partnered with Glitch Productions and to have been part of turning a digital-first franchise into a true international big-screen event.

The Amazing Digital Circus: The Last Act established several Fathom Entertainment presales records and scored a jaw-dropping $20M+ in box office receipts over the first four days in theaters, illustrating the power and appeal of bringing innovative content with established fanbases to the big screen,” said Ray Nutt, the chief executive officer of Fathom Entertainment, “Partnering with Glitch for this indie animation project is the latest example of Fathom identifying innovative content creators, such as our partners at Glitch, in redefining the expectations of prime cinematic content.”
