Weekend Actuals: ‘Jason Bourne’ Fights Its Way To $59.2M; ‘Bad Moms’ Opens w/ $23.8M; ‘Star Trek Beyond’ Second w/ $24.7M; ‘Nerve’ Debuts w/ $9.4M

Universal’s Jason Bourne didn’t have the highest opening in the series but still topped the box office this weekend with a $59.21 million opening. Paramount’s Star Trek Beyond, the top movie last weekend, fell to second place with a sharp second-weekend decline higher than that of either of its two predecessors. STX Entertainment’s Bad Moms provided some counter-programming and debuted with a $23.81 million start, lower than for many other R-rated comedies aimed at women in the past few years but still respectable. Meanwhile, Lionsgate’s Nerve opened in eighth place with $9.44 million.
