CJ 4DPLEX Signs Deals with Leading Asian Movie Exhibitors at CineAsia 2016

Seoul and Los Angeles – December 08, 2016 – CJ 4DPLEX, an immersive theater technology featuring moving seats and environmental effects has strengthened its hold on the Asian market by signing a new partnership with SM Cinema in the Philippines and signing a roll-out agreement with PVR Ltd (PVR Cinemas) in India. The announcement was made at the CineAsia trade show being held at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre, December 6th through 8th.

 4DX has formed a new partnership with SM Cinema, Philippine’s largest chain of cinemas in the country. The exhibitor holds a market share of 50%, operating 320 screens at 59 sites nationwide. In partnership with 4DX, SM Cinema will launch 14 4DX auditoriums, seven of which are expected to open by the end of 2019.

In addition to the new partnership, 4DX will expand its footprint in India, signing a roll-out agreement with India’s largest multiplex chain PVR Ltd, which opened India’s first multiplex in 1997 and currently operates over 557 screens at 121 properties across 48 cities in India. The extended partnership between PVR and 4DX comes on the heels of a remarkable performance by the first 4DX site, which launched in New Delhi in March 2016. Through this roll-out agreement, PVR cinemas will retain its position as the largest provider of 4DX in India with 11 theatres. The new roll-out includes the installation of 4DX in PVR Cinemas’ highest grossing theaters in prime PVR locations in Bangalore and Mumbai.
