Moana, the newest Disney animated musical offering, led the Thanksgiving box office with $56.63 million, or $82.08 million if including since its release on Wednesday. Warner Bros.’ fantasy spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them declined 39.4 percent to $45.08 million, or $65.54 million for the five-day extended weekend.
The three other new wide releases ranged from average to bad in their debuts. Paramount’s World War II spy thriller Allied began with $12.70 million, or $17.72 million for the five-day. Broad Green Pictures’ holiday comedy Bad Santa 2 started with $6.17 million, or $9.10 million for the five-day. And Fox’s period drama Rules Don’t Apply tanked by coming outside the top 10 in 12th place with $1.58 million, or $2.17 million for the five-day.
