Fandango’s official press release:
LOS ANGELES – August 25, 2016 – The new Screen Gems thriller, “Don’t Breathe,” is scaring up hot late summer ticket sales and leading Fandango’s Fanticipation movie buzz indicator with a score of 75 out of 100 points. It is currently outselling previous chillers, “Lights Out” and “The Visit,” at the same point in the Fandango sales cycle.
“Moviegoers have been seeking out these smaller edge-of-your-seat thrillers all summer long, so it makes sense that ‘Don’t Breathe’ is fueling the fright and topping all movies this weekend,” says Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “This film’s been riding a wave of strong buzz all year long, which will definitely help bring more people out to theaters for one last scare before summer comes to a close.”
About Fanticipation
Known for having its finger on the pulse of moviegoers, Fandango’s movie buzz indicator, Fanticipation, provides statistical insight into the movies fans are planning to see in a given weekend. Fanticipation scores (based on a 1 to 100-point scale) are calculated via an algorithm of Fandango’s advance ticket sales, website and mobile traffic, and social media engagement. Fanticipation is not intended as a forecast of the weekend box office; it is a snapshot of movie fan sentiment. Fandango is the ultimate digital network for all things movies, reaching more than 63 million unique visitors per month across its portfolio of digital properties, according to comScore.
