Fandango: ‘Inferno’ Outpacing ‘Bridge of Spies’ In Advance Sales

Fandango’s official press release:

LOS ANGELES – OCTOBER 27, 2016 –  Advance ticket sales for Tom Hanks’ “Inferno” are heating up on Fandango, scoring 78 points on Fandango’s movie buzz indicator, Fanticipation and leading all weekend sales.  “Inferno” is currently outselling the Tom Hanks thriller “Bridge of Spies” in advance ticket sales on Fandango.

“Moviegoers are forever drawn to the Robert Langdon mysteries because of the character’s refreshing ability to solve problems with his brains instead of his fists,” points out Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “Between the popularity of the Dan Brown novel and the reliability of star Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard, it’s easy to see how ‘Inferno’ is leading this week’s advanced ticket sales.”

Timed to the release of the “Inferno,” Fandango Correspondent Alicia Malone sat down with director Ron Howard for a special edition of  “My First Time,” where he recalls the first time he worked with Hanks (“Splash”), his first time at a movie theater (watching his actor-father as a Western villain), and his first time on the “Inferno” set in Italy. About Fanticipation

Known for having its finger on the pulse of moviegoers, Fandango’s movie buzz indicator, Fanticipation, provides statistical insight into the movies fans are planning to see in a given weekend. Fanticipation scores (based on a 1 to 100-point scale) are calculated via an algorithm of Fandango’s advance ticket sales, website and mobile traffic, and social media engagement. Fanticipation is not intended as a forecast of the weekend box office; it is a snapshot of movie fan sentiment. Fandango is the ultimate digital network for all things movies, reaching more than 60 million unique visitors per month across its portfolio of digital properties, according to comScore.
