LOS ANGELES – September 22, 2016 – The modern remake of the classic western, ‘The Magnificent Seven,’ starring Denzel Washington & Chris Pratt, and Warner Animation Group’s animated adventure, ‘Storks’ are leading weekend sales on Fandango, with the films scoring 85 and 81 points, respectively, on Fandango’s movie buzz indicator, Fanticipation.
“The Magnificent Seven” is seeing the hottest Fandango advance ticket sales on Fandango of any film in director Antoine Fuqua’s and star Denzel Washington’s careers, outselling the pair’s previous outing, ‘The Equalizer,” and Fuqua’s action hit, ‘Olympus Has Fallen,’ at the same point in the sales cycle. At the same time, “Storks” is currently outpacing the animated adventure, “Mr. Peabody and Sherman,” in advance sales on Fandango.
“The adrenaline-fueled tease of this season’s first great ensemble, led by Chris Pratt and Denzel Washington, is drawing audiences to ‘The Magnificent Seven’ this weekend,” says Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis. “Meanwhile, families looking to scratch that animated itch will find plenty of humor and heart in ‘Storks.’”
About Fanticipation
Known for having its finger on the pulse of moviegoers, Fandango’s movie buzz indicator, Fanticipation, provides statistical insight into the movies fans are planning to see in a given weekend. Fanticipation scores (based on a 1 to 100-point scale) are calculated via an algorithm of Fandango’s advance ticket sales, website and mobile traffic, and social media engagement. Fanticipation is not intended as a forecast of the weekend box office; it is a snapshot of movie fan sentiment. Fandango is the ultimate digital network for all things movies, reaching more than 63 million unique visitors per month across its portfolio of digital properties, according to comScore.
