NORTH AMERICA: ‘CHAPPiE’ Reaches $16.8M in Six Days; ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ Shoots Down $100M Domestic Mark

Sony reports that CHAPPiE added $0.96 million in first place on Wednesday, bringing its six-day total to $16.8 million. Unfortunately, the Neill Blomkamp film is pacing 9 percent behind Source Code and 58 percent behind Elysium through the same points.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel claimed second place yesterday with $0.93 million. That puts its haul at $11.52 million thus far, 25 percent off the pace of The Hundred-Foot Journey.

In third place, Focus was down 34 percent from last week to $0.85 million on Wednesday. The Will Smith flick has totaled $37.42 million through 13 days of release.

Kingsman: The Secret Service eased just 16 percent from last Wednesday to $0.74 million yesterday, sending the graphic novel adaptation across the $100 million domestic threshold. The Matthew Vaughn-helmed pic’s total stands at an impressive $100.44 million as it continues to display strong legs.

Filling out the top five, Fifty Shades of Grey slid 36.5 percent from last week to $0.52 million yesterday. The adaptation’s domestic tally stands at $157.98 million.

Meanwhile, Unfinished Business posted $0.37 million on Wednesday. The comedy’s six-day gross stands at $6.03 million, 46 percent off the pace of 21 and Over.
