NORTH AMERICA: ‘John Wick’ Claims $18.5M 6-Day Start With Another #1 Finish on Wednesday; ‘Ouija’ Climbs to $23M 6-Day Haul

Lionsgate reports that John Wick added $1.14 million on Wednesday as it again claimed first place. That brings the Keanu Reeves action flick up to $18.48 million through six days of release, 61 percent ahead of the pace of Brick Mansions.

Fury tacked on another $1.115 million yesterday, off 48 percent from the same day last week. With $50.2 million in the bank through 13 days, the pic is roughly 3 percent ahead of the pace of Monuments Men.

Gone Girl eased 41 percent from last Wednesday to $0.89 million yesterday. The hit adaptation’s total now stands at $126.9 million.

Universal’s Ouija earned $0.87 million on Wednesday, bringing its cume to $23.1 million. The board game/horror adaptation is running 20 percent ahead of last year’s Carrie remake and 6 percent ahead of 2012’s Sinister so far.

St. Vincent continues to enjoy great word of mouth as it added $0.68 million yesterday. The Weinstein dramedy expanded into wide release last week thanks to much acclaim for the Bill Murray-Melissa McCarthy film. Through 19 days of overall release, it’s earned a healthy $11.1 million.

Meanwhile, Birdman continues to play well in limited release as it added $118,175 on Wednesday, giving it a $2,364 per-theater average from 50 locations. The total through 13 days stands at $2.38 million.
