Get ready to feel the need again. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the iconic 1986 blockbuster Top Gun, Paramount Pictures announced that audiences nationwide will experience the film back on the big screen for a special one-week-only theatrical event beginning May 13. For the first time ever, Top Gun will be presented in cutting-edge immersive formats, delivering a fully upgraded, high-octane experience for a new generation of moviegoers and longtime fans alike. As part of this celebration, moviegoers will also have the opportunity to experience Top Gun: Maverick in theaters once again. Tickets for Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick go on sale April 21.

The re-release will be paired with Top Gun: Maverick—which earned over $1.5B at the worldwide box office and was the #1 movie of 2022 and highest-grossing film in Paramount Pictures’ history—creating a must-see, back-to-back theatrical event. To further celebrate the milestone, fans are invited to a special ‘Top Gun Day’ event on May 13, featuring a limited-edition collectible print available at participating theaters while supplies last.

Audiences will have the chance to see Top Gun showcased in premium large formats, and immersive technologies including Dolby Cinema, and for the first time ever presented in D-BOX, 4DX, ScreenX and IMAX. Audiences will be able to experience the film’s legendary aerial sequences, iconic soundtrack, and unforgettable performances with unprecedented scale, clarity, and intensity.
