The trailer news for the week begins with Jurassic World which released its first trailer over Thanksgiving and racked up a huge 224,111 tweets. This makes it the second most discussed trailer on Twitter ever behind Fifty Shades OF Grey‘s 240k tweets for its first teaser trailer. On Facebook the reception wasn’t quite as monumental, but its 700k+ like increase in the days since its release is also a very strong start. This was undoubtedly the internet hit trailer in a week that included another high profile and much hyped trailer…
Star Wars: The Force Awakens has had a ton of hype over the last couple years, from the announcement of J.J Abrams as director to various castings and plot details it has been largely eaten up by its fanboys. Last week was supposed to be the big break out party but I have to say it underwhelmed at bit across Twitter and Facebook. Perhaps underwhelmed is too strong of a word but I had visions of it ruling social media with this trailer, something which this trailer just didn’t have in it. Its Twitter numbers were strong, coming in at 142,698 tweets, no it wasn’t anywhere near to Jurassic World but that is still a top 5 all time trailer debut on Twitter. Facebook on the other hand was pretty abysmal (given its super high profile), clocking in with under 200k new likes on the week, a total which doesn’t make the top 20 Facebook post-trailer like increase list.
