Key Takeaways

Total 3-Day Weekend Gross:
$83,674,678 | -11.8% Last Week / +37.7% Weekend 11, 2025

While it might not be a record-breaking frame, exhibitors are sitting on top of the world compared to year-over-year from this time in 2025 when Novocaine led the most weak sauce weekend of the year. This current weekend was driven by a Top 3 that all over-performed to expectations, including Pixar holdover Hoppers as well as newcomers Reminders of Him and Undertone. Those three films alone represent nearly 70% of overall business.

  • Top Title: Hoppers (Disney) | $28.5M / 4,000 Screens / $7,125 PSA | Week 2
  • Top Opener: Reminders of Him (Universal) | $18.25M / 3,402 Screens / $5,364 PSA | Week 1
  • Best PSA: Hoppers (Disney) | $28.5M / 4,000 Screens / $7,125 PSA | Week 2

1. Hoppers
Pixar | NEW
$28.5M 3-Day Weekend | $86.8M Domestic Total
$164.7M Global Total

Disney/Pixar’s family hit Hoppers held extremely well in its second frame with $28.5M from 4,000 screens for a $7,125 Per Screen Average. This represents a -37% drop from Frame 1, on par with the sophomore weekend of the studio’s previous original smash Coco ($27.5M). The weekend number is also precisely at the high end of our forecasting panel’s forecast, and can be chalked up to a lack of major family competition combined with very positive word-of-mouth.

Here’s how the 3-Day looked…

  • Friday – $7.1M
  • Saturday – $12.3M
  • Sunday – $9.1M

As of right now, Hoppers has already surpassed domestic totals on Pixar under-performers Onward ($61.55M) and Elio ($72.98M). It should handily surpass the duds Lightyear ($118.3M) and The Good Dinosaur ($123M) in the weeks to come, although it is yet to be seen if it can earn a seat at the table of genuine Pixar hits. Unlike Elemental ($154.4M domestic/$496.4M global), Hoppers‘ international take is currently behind domestic and cannot be relied on to make up any shortfall domestically.

Overseas Hoppers also continued to play well and were fairly balanced with domestic, earning $31M from 45 territories, including new markets such as Japan, Israel, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Vietnam. Top 3 markets as of right now are the UK ($10.1M), Mexico ($7.6M), and Germany ($7.3M). Next frame could see a huge international surge as the film bows in China as well as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Israel, Malaysia, and Taiwan.

2. Reminders of Him
Universal Pictures | NEW
$18.25M 3-Day Opening Weekend | $28.2M Global Total

Also performing at the high-end of predictions is Universal’s romance Reminders of Him, which earned $18.25M in its debut weekend from 3,402 screens to take the #2 spot. That’s nowhere near the $50M opening of previous Colleen Hoover adaptation It Ends With Us, although it is better than last year’s Paramount offering Regretting You with its $13.68M bow.

Reviews were on the poor side with 56% on RT (on par with It Ends With Us), while audience score was 90% and CinemaScore was a solid “B.” This word-of-mouth probably won’t translate to incredible longevity at the BO, but the numbers should square for a factory-line Q1 programmer.

Here’s how the 3-Day looked, including $1.9M in Thursday previews…

  • Friday – $8.1M
  • Saturday – $5.89M
  • Sunday – $4.26M

Like the previous two Hoover adaptations, Reminders of Him boasts an 81% female audience, with 71% of ticket buyers reported in the 25+ age bracket and 24% among the 18-24’s. Here’s how demographics looked…

  • Caucasian – 51%
  • Hispanic – 28%
  • African American – 10%
  • Asian – 5%
  • NATAM/Other – 5%

Overseas the new film also opened above Regretting You, taking in an estimated $10M from 56 territories for a global total of $28.2M. Top 3 markets were Germany ($2.5M), UK/Ireland ($1.5M), and Australia ($1.3M).

Other Notable Performances

A24’s audio-driven terrifier Undertone over-performed to expectations, setting a solid pace in the genre sphere with a $9.3M opening on 2,570 screens for a $3,634 PSA. This was enough to open at #3 ahead of Paramount’s Scream 7 ($8.35M at #4). Like several other A24 flicks including The Witch, Undertone was a critical darling at 76% Certified Fresh on RT while audiences largely felt disappointed at 52% audience score and “C” CinemaScore. For a movie that cost well under a million dollars, it should not be hard for the mini major to get into the black on this one, even with P&A factored in and a steep drop next frame.

Next Weekend

The LEGO Movie and 21 Jump Street filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller make a much-awaited return to the director’s chair after over a decade (not counting their work on Solo: A Star Wars Story) with the Ryan Gosling-led sci-fi pic Project Hail Mary. Adapted from the novel by Andy Weir of The Martian fame and scripted by that hit’s Drew Goddard, the new film has a so-far excellent 94% on RT with critics saying it’s a fun cross between E.T. and 2001. Next week also sees the directorial team Radio Silence returning turning their 2019 hit Ready or Not ($57.6M WW) into a franchise with Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which has also been received well with 83% on RT.
