Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman earned an excellent $122.5 million overseas opening this weekend. That’s the fifth-highest overseas opening this year, behind The Fate of the Furious with a record $443.2 million, last weekend’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Beauty and the Beast, and Logan.
Playing in 55 markets, Wonder Woman was led by $38.0 million in China, $8.5 million in South Korea, $8.4 million in Mexico, $8.3 million in Brazil, and $7.5 million in the United Kingdom.
Combined with its estimated $100.5 million domestic debut, the film’s combined global weekend is $223.0 million. That’s the sixth-highest global opening for a film this year, behind the five aforementioned films plus Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Approximately 43 percent of Wonder‘s global grosses came from 3D ticket sales, or $93 million. That includes 100 percent of ticket sales in China. Domestically, 3D comprised 29 percent of the film’s sales.
Several major markets still have yet to release, including Germany, Japan, Spain, and France.
