Kino Industries will present CtrlMovie, a premium experience for theaters, in its most complete and fully realized form at CinemaCon, marking the first full reveal of the platform.

Designed for the theatrical ecosystem, CtrlMovie allows audiences to collectively and instantaneously influence narrative outcomes using their smartphones, transforming each screening into a unique, shared experience. Cinema United has invited the CtrlMovie team to present during a special morning program at Caesars Palace on April 15. The panel will feature Chris Aronson, former president of distribution at Paramount Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox, Brooks LeBoeuf, the senior vice president and U.S. head of content at Regal Cinemas, Chady Eli Mattar, the chief executive officer of Kino Industries, and Tobias Weber, the chief executive officer of CtrlMovie. Pete Hammond, Deadline’s awards columnist and chief film critic, will moderate the session.

For the first time, the full CtrlMovie ecosystem will be presented in one place, spanning the experience, hardware and software, theatrical deployment, global rollout strategy, financial model, and upcoming film slate. The session will also highlight the success of Hypnosis Mic, the rap anime film that not only set box office records in Japan last year, but also validated the power of repeat viewing, and how CtrlMovie is connecting with younger audiences through a tech-forward cinematic experience. The presentation will also outline how the platform integrates into existing exhibition infrastructure and is being scaled across domestic and international markets as a new premium format.

“As theatrical continues to evolve, CtrlMovie represents a new model for audience engagement,” says Weber and Mattar. “It creates a reason to return to theaters, to experience something that cannot be replicated at home, and to participate in storytelling in a way that drives repeat viewing and long-term growth.”

“Although nearly every aspect of entertainment has evolved in the digital age, the theatrical experience has remained largely unchanged,” notes Chris Aronson. “Technological advances such as sound, color, 3D and premium formats, have enhanced movie-going, but CtrlMovie offers an engaging alternative that redefines the communal experience of going to the movies. It’s unlike anything that’s come before, and I’m excited to help introduce this deeply engaging interactive technology to the industry at CinemaCon.”

“Regal was proud to be the first U.S. exhibitor to bring CtrlMovie’s interactive technology to American audiences with Hypnosis Mic, and the response was incredible,” adds Brooks LeBoeuf, Regal Cinema’s Sr. Vice President, U.S. Content. “There is something truly special about a theater full of people making collective decisions that shape a story in real time. This technology creates a level of engagement that simply can’t be replicated at home. We are just scratching the surface of what is possible, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with CtrlMovie to push the boundaries of the cinematic experience.”
