Marcus Theatres announced that it recorded the highest total revenue for June in company history. The record results were driven by the record-breaking debut of Toy Story 5 and a well-rounded slate of June releases including Scary Movie and Disclosure Day, and continued strong carryover performances from films like Obsession and Backrooms.
Records broken during June include the highest total revenue ever in the month of June and the highest box office since 2019 for the month of June. Marcus also recorded the highest concession, merchandise, and food & beverage revenue ever in the month of June and revenue per person for the month of June. Other records included record admission revenue per person for the month of June, record single-day attendance for the Marcus Mystery Movie program with 18% of total attendance coming from the mystery title on Monday, June 29. Marcus estimated that over 90 million people attended the movies in June.
“Throughout June, moviegoers showed up in force to see an incredible lineup of great movies on the big screen,” said Jeff Tomachek, the president of Marcus Theatres. “Without a doubt, Toy Story 5 delivered in record breaking fashion. But we also had unexpected blockbusters in Backrooms and Obsession that are still drawing moviegoers to the theater. All this after strong and sometimes record-breaking turn out earlier in the year for movies like Project Hail Mary, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Michael, and The Devil Wears Prada 2. Congratulations to our associates for helping drive these results by making magical movie memories for every guest who walks in our door.”
