Bleecker Street’s event cinema distribution arm Crosswalk, in partnership with LD Entertainment, will release Hadestown: The Musical in theaters nationwide for five nights only, beginning July 24. The live theater capture, directed by Brett Sullivan, originates from the West End production of the hit musical and features the five original principals of the Broadway company.
Hadestown won eight Tony Awards in 2019 including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. The genre-defying musical blends modern American folk music with New Orleans-inspired jazz to reimagine a sweeping ancient tale. The musical follows two intertwining love stories—the young dreamers Orpheus (Reeve Carney) and Eurydice (Eva Noblezada), and King Hades (Patrick Page) and his wife Persephone (Amber Gray).
