Comscore has entered into an agreement with Flix Buyer Inc., a division of private equity firm Advaya Capital, for the sale of Comscore Movies, which tracks data—including box office numbers—from cinemas both in the United States and internationally. Initially acquired by Comscore in 2016, Comscore Movies will operate under its pre-merger brand identity, Rentrak.
Per a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, the base purchase price of the deal comes to $70 million.
Chris Aronson, a longtime distribution executive who served as president of domestic distribution at Paramount prior to the company’s acquisition by Skydance Media in 2025, was a key driver of the deal and will serve on the board of Rentrak; he will be joined by Arturo Guillén, Comscore Movies’ global managing director and executive vice president.
