Long Range Forecast – June 26, 2026

Supergirl | Warner Bros.

Domestic Opening Weekend Range: $45M – $75M

After several long-gestating attempts to bring Supergirl to the big screen, she makes her debut as a lead one year after James Gunn’s introduction of the character in Superman. That film debuted in mid-July to $125M before legging it out to a total domestic haul of $354.2M, making it the fifth-highest-grossing title to hit screens in 2025. Our $45M – $55M opening weekend range puts Supergirl more in line with, though still below, Aquaman ($67.8M domestic opening) or Black Adam ($67M) from Warner Bros.’ last DC cinematic universe. Time—and audience reception—will tell if Supergirl‘s multiplier is more Aquaman (nearly 5x) or a far less impressive Black Adam (2.5x).

Notably, neither Aquaman nor Black Adam were summer releases. While our forecasting panel doesn’t expect Supergirl to approach the opening weekend box office performances of mid-summer DCU titles Wonder Woman ($103.2M domestic opening) or Man of Steel ($116.9M), current tracking indicates the possibility of a better debut than June 2023’s The Flash ($55M). We also expect a higher debut than that enjoyed by 2024’s Furiosa: A Mad Max saga ($26.3M), similarly a female-led action IP spinoff released by Warner Bros.

Jackass: Best and Last | Paramount

Domestic Opening Weekend Range: $15M – $20M

The Jackass gang is back for one more entry in the franchise with Jackass: Best and Last, the sixth movie in the series (if one includes 2013 spinoff Bad Grandpa). The Jackass franchise is a Gen X relic now, and we expect mid-range returns for this (ostensibly) final entry. The last year has seen fellow early aughts franchises Scary Movie and Final Destination achieve their best debuts yet upon returning to the big screen: $54.3M for last weekend’s release of Scary Movie and $51.6M for last May’s Final Destination: Bloodlines. Both of those franchises, however, had been on hiatus for a decade-plus, whereas Jackass was last on the big screen with February 2022’s Jackass Forever ($23.1M domestic opening). A stronger comp for Jackass: Best and Last—and one outside of the buzzy horror genre—is fellow Paramount R-rated comedy The Naked Gun, which opened to $16.8M last summer.
