Severtson Provides Giant 3D Cinema Screen for Singapore Multiplex Theater

PRESS RELEASE

Singapore, Malaysia, April 19, 2016 – Severtson Screens (www.severtsonscreens.com), a global leader in innovative and quality projection screens for the cinema, commercial, pro AV, and home theater markets, is proud to announce that Golden Village Multiplex at Great City Mall in Singapore has finished renovations, which now includes a Severtson SēVision 3D GX giant silver perforated screen measuring in at 54ft. 1in. x 68ft. 10in. (16.5m x 21m).

“Shipping costs associated with such large packages as these screens were out-of-reach for so many international customers up until recently,” explained Toby Severtson, president and CEO of Severtson Corp. “Now, our SēVision 3D GX screens can be folded and packed into a much smaller crate without any loss in structural integrity or performance abilities. The Golden Village Multiplex installation in Singapore is now one in a long line of our giant screen projects in Asia, thanks to our folded technologies.”

Severtson added that this new folded screen process not only reduces international shipping fees, the smaller packaging simplifies delivery to theaters and is more convenient for installers as folded screens are much easier to get into buildings and uncrate than standard long-tube roll packaging…especially when a theater is in a unique structure, such as a high-rise or multi-story theater complex.

“Without Severton’s folded technologies, we wouldn’t have been able to install such a high quality giant screen for two reasons,” said Joshua Chow, Pro Technica managing director. “Great City Mall includes six cinema theatres, and we renovated the largest auditorium, which is on the third floor of the complex. The cost to ship this giant screen traditionally in a long tube would have been beyond our budget for this project, and we also would have had to knock walls down to get the screen into the theatre if it were rolled instead of folded. The screen itself performs incredibly, and Severtson was able to both produce and ship the screen to our requirements and on time.”

The newly upgraded theatre was also outfitted with new seating and state-of-the-art digital audio to complement the SēVision 3D GX giant silver projection screen.

  • available in standard or micro perforation (white and silver)
  • coated surface that is harder to bruise and scuff
  • small micron flake coating produces a sharper image, eliminating graininess in bright scenes
  • viewing angles range from 30 to 40 degree half-gain depending on the specific screen gain requested
  • water-based coating promotes longevity by maintaining optical properties over time, eliminating flaking and cracking of the screen surface
  • perfect for all large cinema applications, such as movie houses, museums, universities, etc.
